Tree up to 35m tall. It has a smell similar to cinamon.

Aniba canelilla occurs in Bolivia, Guyana, Peru, Brazil and Venezuela. In Amazon, it has wide distribution.

The essential oil is extracted by steam distillation of wood chips and produces a colorless to pale yellow. It has a pungent odor. Traditionally, rosewood oil is used for acne, cold, cough, dermatitis, fever, frigidity, headache, infection, nausea, nervous tension, skin and wound care.

It is used as an analgesic, anticonvulsant, antidepressant, anti-bacterial, antiseptic, aphrodisiac, bactericide, deodorant, stimulating and tonic.
