The oils of three species of Copaifera are marketed in the Ver-o-Peso market. The Copaifera reticulata oil is thinner, low odor and light yellow color; the C. duckei is more viscous, strong odor and intense red color and the C. martii is denser, strong odor and brown coloroção.

The copaiba are widely used in folk medicine due to ethnopharmacological properties of oil resin extracted from the trunk of their species, the use is by oral or topical administration.
