Belongs to the grass family Poaceae, which is a large family with over 10,000 species. Native from Asia, reaches 10 to 15m Height (32.80 - 49.21 ft), some of them go up to 20 m. Bamboo may take up to 100 years to be mature. When Imature, its flexible and may be used for making baskets. When its mature it may be used in the construction business as in Asia. Bamboo is the fastest-growing woody plant in the world. Especies found in Brazil came from Asia.
