Chrysopogon zizanioides

<< Voltar

Herb about 2m high, often usedĀ for soil erosion control.

Chrysopogon zizanioides is originally from India, being cultivated for aromatic oil extraction from its roots.

Vetiver extracts could repel termites. However, by itself vetiver, unlike its extracts, can not be used to repel termites. Henderson planted vetiver in garbage cans and hammered wooden stakes in the ground filled cans. He offered large population of termites the ability to move up in garbage cans through another trash can, but found that, although the vetiver root completely filled cans in six months, the stakes were even attacked. Termites had moved around the roots and came to the wood. Unless the roots are damaged, anti-termite chemicals like nootkatone, are not released.
