Tansy (Tanacetum vulgare) is a perennial, herbaceous flowering plant of the aster family. It has been introduced to other parts of the world and in some areas has become invasive. It is also known as common tansy, bitter buttons, cow bitter, or golden buttons.

Tanacetum vulgare rarely bloom at Amazon. At Ver-o-Peso Market, the leaves are sold separatly. Tanacetum vulgare occurs in Europe, Canada, Asia, Africa and Australia, besides of Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Brazil, Chile and Argentina.

The plant is used mainly as vermicide, because it is toxic to worms. The tea made with the flowers is recommended against roundworms and pinworms. Its oil can be applied to combat rheumatism. It also combats tachycardia and epilepsy.

In the popular beliefs, it is a herb used to cause miscarriage because of its toxicity in overdoses.
