Sacaca is a tree that reaches until 12 meters high, powdery bark, alternate leaves, with pleasant smell.
It is resistant to pests and does not need rich soil, is well adapted to on clay soils. Is multiplied by seed. The harvest sacaca is the extraction of tree leaves, usually held every three months.
Sacaca has tradition of use in folk medicine. The leaves and shell are used by the population in the form of infusion, oil, capsules, pills and extracts for diseases including diarrhea, diabetes, gastrointestinal disorders and inflammation of liver. It was scientifically proven the therapeutic effects of stem bark of C. cajucara, species that has large number of publications.
