Herb of small to medium shrubs, with about 1m high. This is the most frequent species of this genus in Pará and it is considered as an invasive species on cultivation.

Spermacoce verticillata also appears in United States, Mexico, Central America, Venezuela, Guianas, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay and Tropical Africa.
