This Square was named to honor Filipe Alberto Patroni Martins Maciel Parente. Born in Portugal, he was in favor of the independence of the State.

He was a colaborator and Editor of the first newpaper of the City, " O Paraense" . He was elected Deputy for the local Assembley.
