Popular Names: Pintado ,Surubim-Caparari, Brutelo, Caparari e Moleque.

Scientific Name : Pseudoplatystoma corruscans.

Geographical Distribution : It can be found in Amazonian Rivers  and all over Brazil.

Habitat : Rivers, Small Lagoons, streams. Its active during nightime.

Feeding:  Its a carnivore, feeding from small fishes and worms.

Reproduction: It migrates to lay its eggs in places with little streams. its reprodution in Labs has been very sucessfull making it a good fish to be raised in captivity with very good results.

Charcteristics:     

Pintado has Grey Color with round spots distributed in its body and fins. Big head with dimensions 1/4 to 1/3 of its body. Very delicious meat. It may weight up to 150 pounds and measures up to  7 fett long.
