Pedro Teixeira was a Portuguese Explorer, He was born in Castanhede , Lisbon Portugal in 1570 and Died in Belém in 1640.

In the early days the Amazon River was the only means of access into the forest. Pedro Teixeira went from Belém, to Quito, Ecuador, and the region increasingly became known through the explorations of the Portuguese. His Journey took about a year to complete. He led 1,270 men in 47 Canoes thru the Amazon River.
