The fruit is covered with a fibrous skin which gives it a hirsute appearance. It is considered the mostly spreaded commercial fruit with vitamin C except for acerola, and is particularly rich in certain trace elements such as magnesium, potassium and iron. When ripe, the fruit is juicy and soft.
