Shrub of 60 centimeters of height. It is one of the most disseminated mint species in Brazil.

It is used in the culinary as spice, as flavouring in some food products or even to the extraction of its essential oil. Sometimes is cultivated as an ornamental plant.

It is also used in folk medicine in many countries in Europe. It is a stomachal stimulating, used in digestive problems. The mint tea also has a calming effect.

Generally, the uses are based on the essential oil and the leaves' infusion.
