Scientifc Name: Mangifera Indica

The Mango Fruit has different shapes, colors and tastes. The outside may have the colors green, yellow, pink and red. The inside is always yellow. Its origin is in Asia and it has been planted mostly in the North and Northeast of Brazil, even though it may be found all over the Country. Some of trees found in the streets of Belém were planted over 100 years ago by mayor Antonio Lemos in the 19th century. 

A lot of recipes can be prepared with Mango and this includes, Shakes, Mousses, Cakes, Pies, ice Cream, Juices and so on.

In Belém this tree is so wide spread that the City has a popular name: The " Mango City"

One fruit may have the following: Energy: 59 Kcal, Proteins: 0,50 g, CarboHydrates: 15,40 g, Calcium 12 mg, Vitamin C: 53 mg.
